With 25 years of leadership experience, I am a fearless, yet methodical business leader who thrives on creating impact and building a legacy by transforming the culture for growth.

I currently head up the Solution sales and solutioning teams at Telstra, as part of their Executive team.

Previously I lead the Premium Engagement service line across APJ for SAP, with overall responsibility for business performance, sales, revenues, profitability, people and programs through commercial , people and customer focussed strategies.

As a relatable people leader, I have successfully built large multinational teams in a matrix environment , while leading direct reports from 2-20, and teams upto 150, consistently exceeding sales, profitability and revenue goals, by focussing on the 5Ps: People, Passion for Customer Success, Partnerships , Pipeline, and Process efficiencies.

I am driven by a desire to create my sustainable legacy in business , and to create a more equitable society, through my initiatives on diversity, equity and inclusion.

I am also a corporate mentor for multiple startups across North America , Asia and Africa, coaching founders to build commercial, business , sales and partnership strategies.

Vijaya Vaidyanath

Vijaya is a well known leader in the Victorian & New Zealand local government sectors with 25 years experience as a CEO — leading three cities. She was the inaugural Chief Executive of Homes Melbourne, established in 2022 by the City of Melbourne to deliver housing access for vulnerable members of our communities and facilitate provision of affordable homes for key workers. Prior to this, Vijaya was CEO of the City of Yarra in Victoria from 2012 to January 2022.

Vijaya was CEO at Waitakere City Council a very large metro City and CEO of Rodney District Council in New Zealand for a considerable period . Prior to this Vijaya worked for 15 years as a senior Executive in the Reserve Bank of India in India.

Vijaya is a highly seasoned board and advisory group member across public, private, not-for-profit organisations, universities and international banks. She is currently a Board Member on Procurement Australia and Ambulance Victoria and formerly on Parks Victoria Vision Super and Zoo’s Victoria. Vijaya was the Chair of Parks Victoria’s Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee and a member on the Parks Planning and Evaluation committee. Vijaya is a member on the Finance Committee , Remuneration Committee and Community Advisory Committee on Ambulance Victoria.

Vijaya is a Senior Executive Fellow of the John F Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from JM Katz Graduate School of Business in Pittsburgh . She is a Masters of Arts (Economics) and a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from the University of Bangalore. Vijaya is recognised in the inaugural 2017 IPAA Victoria’s Top 50 Public Sector Women list . She is also a Fellow of IPAA Victoria . Vijaya is professionally qualified as a New Zealand Institute of Company Directors (NZICD) member.

Vijaya draws inspiration from a variety of global thought and academic leaders as well as from her overseas mentors who have shaped her world view. It led to her interest in social justice and values based leadership. She has been a senior leader from the early stages of her career in sectors such as commercial ,central banking, and international finance for two decades and in Local Government in the last three decades in New Zealand and Australia.
